PhotOBaby is only available in medical settings using data collected during a medical prenatal ultrasound performed by licensed practitioners and is intended to meet the rising demand for keepsake imaging WITHOUT necessitating a non-medical ultrasound procedure! PhotOBaby is intended to provide a solution to the divide between medical appropriateness and patient demand for prenatal keepsake images and bonding experiences.

The Federal Drug Association (FDA) cautioned against Ultrasound "Keepsake" images captured in non-medical environments in its FDA Consumer Magazine. The FDA's reservations weren't due to the patient's desire for "Keepsake" ultrasound images, but rather due to the possible increased risk of harm from unnecessary exposure, where the "Keepsake" ultrasound procedures were performed, and who was performing them.  Click here for the full article.

The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) discourages the non-medical use of ultrasound for any purpose and endorses the use of medically indicated ultrasound only.  Click here for the AIUM's Official Statements.
